Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it take to complete the Veterinary Assistant program?

Stellar Career College's Veterinary Assistant program takes 36 weeks (9 months) to complete, including classroom instruction and 166 hours of hands-on externship experience.

What is the difference between a Veterinary Assistant and a Vet Tech?

A Veterinary Assistant program requires less time to complete than a 2-year Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) degree, allowing you to enter the workforce faster. Working as a vet assistant is an ideal pathway toward becoming an RVT later.

Can I advance from a Veterinary Assistant to a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT)?

Yes! Gaining real-world experience as a veterinary assistant provides an excellent foundational understanding of clinic workflows, medical terms, and animal handling that will help you excel if you choose to pursue further education and licensing as an RVT.
